ELDERLY MOVING AGAINST OBAMACARE-DickMorris

September 28, 2009

But the Senate appears ready to ram this bill through regardless of what the public or the elderly think. They have 60 votes and they won’t listen to anyone. But we have to make them listen!

ObamaCare« OBAMA’S HEALTH INSURANCE TAX: COMING SOON TO ALL

ELDERLY MOVING AGAINST OBAMACARE

By Dick Morris And Eileen McGann 09.28.2009

America’s elderly are finally realizing that Obama’s health care changes are largely financed by cuts in Medicare and are rallying against his proposals in increasing numbers.

The latest poll by Scott Rasmussen not only shows national opposition to Obamacare rising — now it is 41-56 against — but also shows the elderly moving against it even more strongly by 33-59 or almost 2:1.

And well they should! Three-quarters of Obamacare is to be financed by slashing $500 billion from Medicare over the next ten years. That comes to an eight percent cut. Next year’s total Medicare spending, for example, will be about $500 billion by itself, so this is like having one year without Medicare at all! Obama’s fatuous claim that the cut will not affect care for the elderly is specious as any thinking person would realize. We have gone through previous incarnations of those who wanted to slash Medicare and pretended that it would not affect the elderly. Newt Gingrich tried to sell this act of alchemy in 1995 and the elderly didn’t buy it then and aren’t buying it now!

It is obviously impossible to cut Medicare reimbursement without slashing the time doctors spend with patients. It is equally obvious that you cannot cover 30 million new patients without more doctors and nurses. And the Medicare cuts in doctors’ fees will, of course, cause a decrease in the number of medical professionals. Investor’s Business Daily conducted a poll in September which showed that 45% of all doctors said they would seriously consider retiring or closing their practices if the Obama bill passes. A larger number will likely refuse to treat Medicare patients. Indeed, current law provides for a 21% cut in Medicare fees to doctors next year and a 6% cut the year after. The new $500 billion in cuts are on top of these reductions! What kind of medical care do we expect our elderly to receive when the doctor who they visit is getting $35 or $40 for seeing them!

The root of the problem is elitism. They think they know what is best for us and that we’ll thank them later at the polls. They look at the sheeple in Europe and dream of the same kind of gratitude here.

Hopefully there will be a massive revolt at the polls next year. We just need alternative candidates with good ideas. See any? Let me know.

Just what is the first step we as Americans can do to stop this runaway force from crashing and destroying us?
Right now, the main issue for me is health care. I do NOT want my insurance changed from the way it has been for all my life. I am a senior and do not understand everything the way it is laid out for us.
We need someone who will have all Americans first and foremost in the plans.
Just say what is meant in plain English. Not in such gibberish that no one can know what is going on.
I am compelled as a Christian to pray for our leaders, but I do not want my “so called leaders” to decide what is right for me when I know better.
I am tired of something being rammed down my throat, because I did not voice my opinion.
There are many issues I do not agree with and very few I do agree with. I just want what is right. Anything I can do to make this go away? Let me know.

Please answer this; I hear no menion of the Medicare Trust fund. Don’t seniors have billions in the fund? I have been tirelessly on the net; I see no information as to the amount on deposit. God, help us – does Obama have access to our medical fund? I can see that billions of dollars are owed to the fund.

Social Security fund is owed $2.2 billion; we can’t have our Medicare Trust fund raped like Social Security. Seniors need help to shore up Social Security now.

Please help us to prohibit Medicare Trust fund from being used for political purposes and not exclusively for Senior health care expenses. I don’t understand how Obama can refuse Medicare Advantage and lower physician payments when it is our money in the fund – he is not paying for anything but is stealing money from seniors’ fund.

I am so sad at the direction this administration is taking our country. I have traveled in many different countries
in my lifetime and am always happy to get back to the good ole’ USA. We were in China a couple of months ago and
saw how they are an emerging country. The younger generation doesn’t want a communistic government, and when the older generations are in the minority, the young people truly believe that they will have a democratic, capitalistic
government. How sad that we are going in the direction they are trying to get out of.

We seniors have worked all our life to earn what we have–spiritually, freedom, the great American dream! All we
want is to live the rest of our life without government intrusion and able to leave our children a little something instead of giving it all to the corrupt government to squander. Yes, I said CORRUPT! Quit trying to have so much
power and get on with running our country the way our forefathers founded it. I have never seen our country so
divisive and have so much fear for the future.

PLEASE listen to us, and stay out of our lives –especially in our healthcare and quit taxing everything we have.
Those who are given a handout, come to expect that all their lives. They expect government to intervene in every
aspect of their life. We seniors, mostly, are satisfied with the insurance we have. Government, quit trying to take
over all phases of the country and let free enterprise reign.
